A five-member presidential council of the newly formed Progressive Democratic Party has been formed.
The chairmanship council consists of Ojaswi Bhattarai, Durga Sob, Santosh Pariyar, Sudan Kirati, and Ashok Jaiswal. Ojaswi is from the Gen-G group, while Jaiswal is from the family of martyrs of the Maoist war. Sob is the coordinator of Nagyan Shakti, Kirati is the coordinator of the Progressive Campaign, and Pariyar is the former chief whip of the National Independent Party.
Former Maoist Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma, former chief whip of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party Santosh Pariyar, and Durga Sob, coordinator of the Nepal Samajwadi Party (New Shakti), announced the Progressive Democratic Party on Sunday. Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai will be the patron of the party. The draft statute to make the collective leadership of the party inclusive of youth and women is in the statute.
The party's election symbol will remain the eye. This party has been registered with the Election Commission in the name of Durga Sob.
