The Nepali Congress has formally decided to participate in the House of Representatives elections scheduled for February 21.

Today's meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee decided to go for the election, considering that the current political crisis, the protection of the constitution, and the demands raised by Gen-G can be addressed institutionally through elections.

Similarly, it has also decided to register the party with the Election Commission for the National Assembly and House of Representatives elections.  However, the letter sent for party registration does not mention whether the name of President Sher Bahadur Deuba or the name of Acting President Purna Bahadur Khad will be sent.  If President Deuba's name is sent while registering the party, there is a suspicion that Deuba will be active in distributing tickets later.

The Nepali Congress has also urged the creation of an environment for the election.  To create a fear-free environment for the common citizen, the Congress has demanded that the missing weapons and prisoners be immediately taken under control.

However, the meeting could not take any decision on this matter due to the disagreements at the party general convention. General Secretary Gagan Thapa said that a meeting will be held to discuss the matter again. The Congress has decided on the issue of national politics while the dispute over whether to hold the general convention before or after the Falgun 21 election remains unresolved.
