More than 800,000 applications for additional voters

As of Friday, 40 parties have applied to the Election Commission to participate in the House of Representatives elections to be held on 21 Falgun. The deadline for registration for parties wishing to participate in the elections is from 1 to 10 Mangsir.
The Congress, which is the first party in the dissolved House of Representatives, and the UML, which is the second, have not yet applied for party registration for the election. The Congress has decided to participate in the election on Saturday. However, the UML is still demanding the restoration of the House of Representatives.
The Commission has now invited applications for party registration for both the House of Representatives and the National Assembly elections. Elections are being held for 19 vacant seats in the National Assembly on 11 Magh. Eight parties have registered to participate in the National Assembly elections.
The number of parties listed with the Commission has reached 129. Recently, 10 new parties have been registered. There is a legal provision that these listed parties must re-register to participate in the election. Article 271 of the Constitution and Section 48 of the Political Parties Act, 2073 BS states that parties registered with the Commission must re-register their parties to participate in the relevant elections. Only parties that come for registration within the time frame set by the Commission will be allowed to participate in the election, informed the Commission's spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.
The NCP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Nemkipa (Nepal Democratic Party), Rastriya Janamorcha (National People's Party), Janamat Party (JSP), Janamat Party (JMP), Nepal Sadbhavana (Nepal Democratic Party), Desh Bikash (Nepal Democratic Party), Pragatisheel Loktantrik (Progressive Democratic Party), Deshpat Samaj (Desh Samaj Party), Nepal Loktantrik (Nepal Democratic Party), Aam Janata (Ama Janata Party), Mongol National Organization (Mongol National Organization) and Bahujan Shakti Party (Bahujan Shakti Party) have also applied for party registration.
Similarly, Nepal Humanist Party (Nepal Humanist Party), Nepal Janata (Nepal People's Protection Party), Nepal Janata (Nepal People's Party), National Samata Party (Nepal People's Party), Samyukta Nagarik (United), Nepal Janamukti (Nepal Communist Party (United), National Realist Party (Nepal) and Nepal Parivar Dal (Nepal Family Party) have applied for registration. The National People's Party Nepal, the Inclusive Socialist Party Nepal, the People's Democratic Party Nepal, the Developing People's Party, the National Citizen Party, the National Change Party, the Communist Party of Nepal Marxist (Pushpalal), the Federal Democratic National Forum, the National Unity Party and the Federal Nepal Party have also announced that they will participate in the election.
Similarly, the Federal Nepal Party, the Dynamic Democratic Party, the Nepal Janashramdan Culture Party, the Civil Liberation Party Nepal, the National Sajha Party and the Civil Liberation Party have applied for party registration for the House of Representatives election.
The UML has already registered its party for the National Assembly election. In addition, the CPN (Maoist), the NEMKIPA, the Bahujan Shakti, the JSP Nepal, the National Janamorcha, the Janamat and the Civil Liberation Party Nepal have applied for party registration. The party registration period given by the Commission for the National Assembly election ends on Sunday.
The 10 new parties listed with the commission include Dharan Mayor Harkaraj Rai's Shram Sanskriti Party, Dinesh Raj Prasai's Dynamic Democratic Party, Kabir Sop's Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal, and the National Change Party led by Rajesh Pratel. Similarly, Riyaz Ahmed Shesh's Rastriya Janmat Party, Netra Bikram Chand's Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), and Akbar Khan's Rastra Nirman Dal Nepal have received party registration certificates.
Similarly, the National Energetic Party Nepal led by Yogendra Mandal, the People's First Party led by Prashant Singh, and the Ujjala Nepal Party led by Anup Kumar Upadhyay have been registered. 28 new parties are in the process of registering with the commission. 500 supporters are required for party registration. They must appear at the election office and get their identity verified. Some parties seem to be having difficulty completing the same process. According to the staff of the Commission's Law and Political Parties Division, only 3/4 of the 28 parties in the registration process are expected to be able to register 500 people by 10 Mangsir.
837,094 people have applied within the deadline set by the Election Commission for new voter registration until 5 Mangsir. According to the Commission, the number of people who applied for registration by giving biometrics at the election office from 9 Asoj to 5 Mangsir is 344,914. The link to the voter list was linked to the national circular from 27 Kartik. Since then, the number of people who applied through the national circular in a week has reached 492,180.
New names will be included in the final voter list only after completing the legal process including contesting the names compiled according to the Voter List Act. There are currently 18,168,230 voters. The Commission will publish the total voter list on 20 Mangsir.
To correct any errors in the list, an application, complaint or information can be submitted to the commission's website, provincial or district election office from 21-27 Mangs. After investigating the complaints, information and grievances received, the commission has set a schedule to publish the final voter list at the relevant election office and ward office on 15 Poush.
