Even in new political parties, leadership over 50 years old

Five new parties have received certificates from the Election Commission. Of these, the Civil Liberties Party, patronized by Resham Chaudhary, is led by Gen-G, i.e. 27-year-old Kabir Sob. Apart from these, from the Dynamic Democratic Party to the Labor Culture Party, there are no Gen-G youth in the leadership.

Even in new political parties, leadership over 50 years old

What you should know

The main demand of the Gen-G movement was not only to end corruption and establish good governance, but also to transfer leadership to the next generation. The message of the Gen-G rebellion was - end corruption, establish good governance and transfer political leadership to the next generation. The new government formed on the strength of the rebellion has started preparations to hold elections.

For that, there is a rush of people to apply for registration of new parties at the Election Commission. But are there new generations at the leadership of the registered parties? So far, the Commission has received applications for registration of 20 new parties for the elections to be held on Falgun 21. We have looked at the age group of people leading the registered parties.

Most of the 20 parties currently in the registration process are led by people over 50 years of age. Among those who have reached the Commission, the National Change Party is led by Ajay Kumar Rai, who is under 28 years of age. All the remaining parties are led by people over 50 years of age.

The Ujjaya Nepal Party, which was announced on Tuesday under the leadership of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising, is led by former Secretary Anup Kumar Upadhyay. He has now reached the age of 65. Former Ambassador Nawaraj Subedi has applied for registration of the Janayug Party. He himself is 65 years old. The Nepal Liberal Party is led by Gopilal Neupane. He is 61 years old.

When examining the applications for party registration submitted to the commission, 5 parties are led by people over the age of 50. Communist Party Nepal's Netra Bikram Chand is 58, National Urjashil Party's Yogendra Mandal is 54, Awaaz Party's Sundar Ram Bohara is 53, and Janadesh Party Nepal's Raman Kumar Karna is 50.

Some parties are led by people under the age of 40. Rastra Nirman Dal's Akbar Khan and Hamro Party Nepal's Khagendra Sunar are under the age of 40. The most interesting thing is that Hira Prasad Seti, who has applied for party registration as the National Gen-G Party, is 32 years old. Unfortunately, despite so many parties being registered, none of the parties are led by women.

Currently, five parties that have applied for registration of new parties with the Election Commission have received registration certificates. Among those that have received certificates, the only one that is led by Gen-G, namely 27-year-old Kabir Sob, is the Civil Liberation Party, which is patronized by Resham Chaudhary. Apart from these, the leadership of the Dynamic Democratic Party and the Labor Culture Party also lacks Gen-G youth.
