Prime Minister Sushila Karki and former President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav held a courtesy call at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar today.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the preparations for the upcoming elections and the political environment. Prime Minister Karki said that she is committed to maintaining good governance in the country in line with the spirit of the Gen-G movement and transferring power to the elected government.

During that meeting, former President Yadav expressed the view that all political parties must go to the elections and no one should run away from it. He praised the government's preparations for the elections and the dialogue it has had with various parties.

Former President Yadav said, "Political parties must go to the elections. Elections are the best way to move the country forward in the democratic process. The preparations you are making for the elections and the dialogue with all parties have created a positive environment. The Election Commission has been provided with a budget, and arrangements are being made for logistical materials, which is a good thing. Now, also communicate with civil society. Civil society should also motivate the parties to go to the elections."

He also shared his experience of how elections were possible during the government led by the then Chief Justice Khilraj Regmi in 2070 BS when he was the President. He also discussed the security situation and geopolitical environment at that time.

Former President Yadav emphasized coordination among all security agencies to strengthen the security system. He expressed confidence that all parties would participate in the upcoming elections on Falgun 21 as they also understood the inevitability of the elections.

‘I am also telling the parties that there is no alternative to elections. It cannot be done without elections. This process should not be confused with any pretext now,’ he said.

Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel and other officials were present at the meeting. Just yesterday, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal had visited former President Yadav’s residence in Lalitpur and met him.

The government has stated that it has rapidly initiated dialogue with various parties to create an environment for the upcoming elections on Falgun 21.
