The National Assembly, the permanent house of the federal parliament, is ready to support the current government within constitutional limits, said Narayan Prasad Dahal, the Speaker of the National Assembly. He also demanded that the government convene a session of the National Assembly and provide business.

Addressing a large-scale interaction program organized by the Indigenous Peoples Commission in Lalitpur on Friday on the problems of implementing the commission's recommendations and the next steps, Chairman Dahal raised the issue of the government being accountable to the National Assembly.

Chairman Dahal said that there are repeated complaints that the recommendations and suggestions of the Constitutional Commission have not been implemented even though its reports have been submitted to the President. He said, 'The role of Parliament is to make laws. For that, the government should bring business to the Parliament. In the event of the dissolution of the House of Representatives, the National Assembly is ready to cooperate within the constitutional limits.'

Minister of Energy of the Government of Nepal Kulman Ghising was also present at the program. Chairman Dahal had urged to continue joint efforts to protect and promote diversity, equality and inclusiveness, stating that the essence of the federal democratic republic of Nepal lies in diversity, equality and inclusiveness.

Dahal had earlier said, 'After the recent Gen-G movement, the House of Representatives was dissolved and the election for the House of Representatives has been announced for the upcoming Falgun 21. I have felt that the recently formed interim government is focused more on providing good governance and electoral work. The people also expect elections on time. You are aware of the fact that according to our constitutional system, both houses have made arrangements for making laws.'

Dahal had said that the National Assembly is ready to cooperate with the government within the constitutional limits when the House of Representatives is not in place. 'In the current situation where the House of Representatives is not in place, the National Assembly is ready to play the role of a parliament to resolve legal complications and difficulties by cooperating and coordinating with the government within the constitutional limits,' Dahal said. 'As the Speaker of the National Assembly, I would like to inform you that I am always committed to facilitating what I can on my part.'
