Nepal Communist Party (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that an environment for elections cannot be created without dialogue with political parties.
At a meeting and tea reception of the Liaison Coordination Committee organized at the party central office, Chyasal today, he said that it would be difficult to go to the election when 1,200 police weapons and more than 100,000 bullets have been looted and 5,500 prisoners are absconding.
'The demands made by the Genji brothers for an end to corruption and good governance are legitimate, but we cannot support the anarchic activities carried out by elements who incite violence in the name of that. We should not run the government or hold elections by creating an atmosphere of fear in the society. We are in a democratic system. The state should protect our security and freedom. Citizens should not have to protect themselves,' Chairman Oli said, 'We are not a weapon or a weak force. We are a party that has fought for democracy. We will work to restore democracy and peace and order. UML will remain active for that.'
He stated that the restoration of the dissolved House of Representatives is his party's stance and urged the cadres to move forward with clarity and confidence in the party's policy.
Chairman Oli has reached the party central office for the first time since the protests on Bhadra 23 and 24. The office has been destroyed during the protests.
