The Election Commission has fixed the time for collecting and updating the voter list till the end of October.
Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that the Commission's meeting held on Thursday decided to collect the voter list by the end of October. The commission took this decision after President Ramchandra Paudel issued an ordinance on voter registration yesterday.
He informed that the list will be compiled and updated by the middle of October so that citizens who turn 18 years old by the 20th of February can vote.
The interim government led by Sushila Karki, formed after the Gen-G movement on August 23 and 24, has a mandate to hold the House of Representatives elections on February 21.
There is a provision to stop the collection of the voter list after the announcement of the election. But the government changed the arrangement by bringing an ordinance on Wednesday.
