A leader informed that discussions are going on between Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and United Samajwadi Party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal to unite the party within a few days. He said that the party unity had already been discussed six times in July and August.
Maoists and United Socialists have started homework for party unity. Both the parties have prepared for unity with the aim of preserving at least the legacy of the past in the upcoming general elections.

The two presidents held a meeting with the in-charges of the seven provinces of both parties on July 27 to find a basis for party unity. They mentioned that political and ideological differences are not big and suggested to unite the party. Maoist Deputy General Secretary Varshman Pun informed that preliminary discussions were held with the Unified Socialists in accordance with the party's policy of trying to unite with like-minded parties. "Left unity is more necessary in the changing situation," he said, "We have now emphasized on a special convention." If the ideological, political and organizational matters are agreed, we will take the convention and party unity together.' "It also decides to take initiatives on behalf of our party to unite the party with the left-wing, communist and socialist parties and groups that agree with the policies, ideas, principles, programs and work directions embraced by the party and to cooperate with other parties and groups in the current context," the decision of the United Socialists said.
Beduram Bhusal, a senior leader of the United Socialist Party, said that since there are no political, theoretical and ideological differences with the Maoists, it will be easy for unity. "There are no political, ideological and theoretical differences, the issue of how to create an organizational structure is yet to be discussed," he said. He informed that the name and election symbol of the possible party after unity will be discussed in the next meeting. Maoists have always wanted to change the name.
While appreciating the contribution of both the presidents, the leaders of the two parties have also started discussions on creating an honorable post. Bhusal added, "It would be better to create an organizational structure by keeping first-generation leaders in respectable positions."
Maoists and unified socialists have concluded that they will leave the demand for the restoration of the parliament and go to the elections. "It is better to go to the elections with party unity, it is a decision that we should start preparing for the elections," said Bhusal, "The old party and leaders will have to go to the elections facing many questions." The leaders and workers of the United Socialist Party have returned to their old homes saying that the UML did not justify the division. UML has also taken the policy of pulling the leader of the Unified Socialists. A leader of the United Socialist Party said that uniting with the Maoists has become a necessity to save the party, leaders, and workers.
The central committee meeting of the Maoists held on 20th July took the decision to transform into unity by collaborating with the Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Vikram Chand and the Socialist Party.
"We have kept the door of dialogue open with the close party to advance the left movement by being united," said Pun, the deputy general secretary of Maoist. The CPN formed a negotiation committee under the leadership of Anil Sharma from the central committee that met in the third week of August.
The 'Socialist Front' consisting of Maoists, Unified Socialists and CPN is maintained. The parties in the front have been cooperating on important issues of the country. In the disbanded House of Representatives, the Maoists had 32 seats and the United Socialists had 10 seats.
United Socialists have decided that the government, political parties, and civil society should work together to ensure that the elections of the House of Representatives on February 21 will be held in a fair, peaceful and fearless environment. The president of United Socialist Party of Nepal is in favor of uniting with the Maoists before going to the elections.
Chairman Nepal Patanjali is in trouble after a case was filed for land embezzlement. There is pressure within the party to leave the post of chairman. On the other hand, the basis for winning the case against him must be determined. For that, he wanted to unite the party by collaborating with the Maoists, said an official of a Samajwadi party.
