Nepal Samajwadi Party (New Power) Chairman Baburam Bhattarai has proposed to resign as chairman.

In the special extended meeting of the Central Working Committee which started on Wednesday, Bhattarai proposed to leave the post of chairman saying that the leadership will be handed over to the youth. He has also submitted a proposal to hold a special convention in February and elect a new leadership from that convention. 

Naya Shakti leader Manushi Yami Bhattarai told Kantipur that the chairman's proposal was being discussed in the meeting.
