Election Commission officials discussed with Prime Minister Sushila Karki about the preparations for the elections today.
In the meeting held at the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers at Singhdarbar, officials including Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari discussed the necessary law amendments, election management and resource mobilization in the context of the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the election scheduled for February 21. The Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Anil Kumar Sinha, who participated in the
discussion, informed that there was a discussion about the need to prepare for the election and if there are any obstacles related to the preparation, they should be identified and addressed.
Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that there have been initial talks for effective coordination for the elections and said that there will be continuous discussions with the Nepal government about the challenges that will come later. The Commission has been requesting the Government of Nepal to ensure the necessary resources, including amendments to the Voter Roll Act, 2073, to complete the House of Representatives elections at the appointed time.
