Capitalist commercialism has distorted Teej: Vice President Bhusal

Maoist vice president Pampha Bhusal has said that the Teej festival has been distorted by the commercial tendencies of the capitalists.

In an interaction program on 'Teez Janaksultur and Progressive' organized by the All Nepal National Independent Student Union (Krantikari) Central Women's Department here today, Vice President Bhusal said that long-term trading in the market to earn profit, encouraging flamboyance and erasing the original culture is on the rise. He said that it is necessary to stop such trend.

Vice President Bhusal mentioned that women are still seen as second-class citizens in the society and held the view that Teej should also be understood as a festival associated with women's oppression. She emphasized that Teej should be celebrated as an opportunity to preserve original folk songs, raise awareness of women's rights and organize women without making it flamboyant and expensive.

Central President of All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Krantikari) Vijay Prasad Sapkota said that Teej should be taken as a progressive means to advance cultural, social and values. Mamta Adhikari, chairperson of the women's department, expressed her belief that Teej should be celebrated by imbibing social values ​​and that the department will continue to be active for the upliftment of women in the future.
