The Third United Nations Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) has started in the voice of Turkmenistan.

The heads of state and government of Maluk participating in the conference, which will be held from today to the 23rd, were welcomed by the Vice President of the Government of Turkmenistan, Hojamyarat Zeldimyardov and the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, at the sports complex in Awaza, the opening venue.

Addressing the opening session, Secretary General Guterres emphasized that landlocked countries should make joint efforts with necessary support and coordination to increase access to international competitive markets and solve the problems they are facing.

The President of Turkmenistan, Berdimuhamedov, said that the economic and social problems faced by the landlocked developing countries should be solved through South-South cooperation as well as the parliamentary platform, youth and citizen networks. Likewise, the President of the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, Philemon Yunzi, also addressed the opening session. The 'Plenary' session of the

conference has started at the tourist building in Awaza. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is leading the Nepali delegation, will address the conference today. He is also scheduled to address the conference on behalf of the least developed countries (LDC) group.

Likewise, on the occasion of the conference, Prime Minister Oli will meet with the heads of delegations of various countries and high-ranking officials of the United Nations and other international organizations.

Due to the lack of direct regional access to the sea, especially landlocked developing countries are facing difficulties in international trade, 'connectivity' and economic development, the third conference of the group being held in Turkmenistan is viewed with importance.

Prime Minister's visiting team includes First Lady Radhika Shakya, Prime Minister's Chief Adviser Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Member of the House of Representatives Surya Bahadur Thapa Chhetri, Prime Minister's Principal Private Secretary Rajesh Bajracharya, private physician Prada Divya Singh Shah, Foreign Ministry Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and others.
