Yomri Purnima is celebrated with joy and gaiety in the Newar community by cooking Yomri early on Sunday morning and offering it to the gods and goddesses. The cooks say that this bread is called Yomari (loved bread) because it is liked by children and old people.

नेवारीमा ‘यो’ को अर्थ ‘मन पराउनु’ र ‘मरी’ लाई ‘रोटी’ भनिन्छ। आज देशभरी योमरी पुन्ही मनाइँदैछ । चामलको पिठोभित्र चाकु र खुवा हालेर अण्डाकार रुपमा डल्लो बनाइएको परिकार योमरी हो ।
