[Letter to the Editor] Elections alone are not the solution to problems

Before going to the elections, shouldn't the country have peace and security and the return of stolen weapons? The police are still afraid to go to the field. The prisoners who escaped from prison have not yet been contacted. In such a situation, is it right to call for elections?

[Letter to the Editor] Elections alone are not the solution to problems

What you should know

It was heard that the government, political parties and Gen-G youths sat down at the same place at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar and held talks. This can be considered positive. I was surprised to hear that Prime Minister Sushila Karki's objective was elections. Was Sushila Karki made Prime Minister just to hold elections? If so, then nothing. Otherwise, why is the same rattan always used?

We should all come together to give the country a political outlet. That being said, holding elections is not the only option. Before going to the elections, shouldn't peace and security be restored in the country and the looted weapons be returned? The police are still afraid to go to the field. Prisoners who escaped from prison have not yet been contacted. In such a situation, is it right to call for elections?

The government has not yet been able to expand the cabinet. The most important ministries are the foreign and defense ministers. We had to think about why the government was formed first. The country will not find a way out by holding a round table conference alone. Maybe Karki's prime ministership will be successful. But the situation in the country will definitely remain the same.

The leaders could not give the right direction to politics, due to which the people were disappointed. The people, fed up and fed up with power-centric politics, were forced to look for alternatives. Nepal's politics revolved around UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

The parties that have ruled for the past 35 years have never been able to appreciate the sentiments of the people. When they say democracy and republic, they say it, but when they do it, they should always be at the forefront and run the government. The Nepali people have hope that the Gen-G movement will bring about change, even to some extent. No one should disappoint that hope.
