Conspiracy to postpone the Congress general convention

What you should know

In the current situation of the country, every day is important. However, the Nepali Congress has postponed its central working committee meeting for 13 days, citing the death of a leader (Rishikesh Gautam, who died at the age of 81).

With this, he is trying to become irresponsible towards the party, the country and the people. Postponing the meeting for a day may not be possible, but postponing it for 13/13 days means not trying to hold the party's general convention on time.

Sher Bahadur Deuba, Arju Rana and the acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka appointed by them want both the party's general convention and special general convention to be held before the general elections under any circumstances. Because they want to distribute the MP tickets in the upcoming elections.

If the leadership from the general convention goes to Gagan Thapa, Bishwaprakash Sharma or Shekhar Koirala, the tickets of many leaders from the Deuba faction may be cut. Due to that fear, they do not want to hold the party general convention before the elections in any way.

How did Gagan Thapa, Bishwaprakash Sharma and Dhanraj Gurung agree on the decision to postpone the meeting for 13 days? That has become a matter of investigation. Gagan and Bishwa should clarify this. Will the Congress fight the upcoming elections under the leadership of Purna Bahadur Khadka or under the leadership of Gagan and Bishwa? That should be made clear.

Will the general convention delegates, understanding the spirit of the Gen-G movement, support Gagan and Vishwa or will they join Khadka and support the status quo? It remains to be seen. In this situation, only two options remain.

One, realizing that Khadka's face cannot really win the election, support Gagan and Vishwa as central members. The other, Gagan and Vishwa themselves will leave the Congress and give an ultimatum that they will form a new Congress. However, the Khadkas will not accept it, they will form a new Congress party and call on Congress workers across the country to join their party.

If we do this, the mainstream Congress party will be Gagan and Vishwa. Only by moving forward with this solution will Gagan and Vishwa be successful, otherwise your proposal will be defeated again by the strength of numbers and the Congress will be exposed in the elections in 6 months. Will we watch that scene with a sigh or rebel? That is in the hands of Gagan and Vishwa.

This rebellion is not only in the Congress, but UML and Maoists are necessary everywhere. Otherwise, unrest, inconsistency, and misrule will never leave Nepal. In UML too, Yogesh and Gokarnas should not delay in blowing the trumpet of rebellion together. Otherwise, there will be no improvement there either. – Gopal Devkota, Gokarneshwor-8, Kathmandu
