[Letter to the editor] Oli's expression needs to be curbed

There is no shame, no remorse, no shadow of morality in Oli's speech. His anarchic expression is trying to trample the spirit of democracy.

Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's latest behavior, speech and demeanor have raised serious questions about the peaceful political environment of Nepal. Is the country heading back to the dark ages of violence? The leadership which fired on innocent youths and students while in government, shot dead children in the chest and head, is today climbing the peak of pride by flatly rejecting the demands of the inquiry committee. How ironic is this?

There is no shame, no remorse, no shadow of morality in Oli's speech. His anarchic expression is trying to trample the spirit of democracy. By inciting public anger, spreading hatred towards the state apparatus and openly challenging the legal process, he is pushing the country towards the dangerous pit of civil war. His frenzy is not just political arrogance, it is an attack on national unity and social harmony. The people have now understood this style of hiding their misdeeds by labeling the dissenters as 'brokers'.

Nepal is standing in a sensitive mode today. At such a time, leaders like Oli are spreading incitement from the platform in a ridiculous manner, which is intolerable and dangerous. Nepal has been experiencing bloodshed and violence for a long time. Now the instigation of a dictatorial, self-centered and arrogant leader should not be allowed to push the country into the flames of civil war.
