Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of the Maoist Center, became public after the Gen-G movement ended. Perhaps the fire ignited by the movement was still not extinguished. Ashes were not buried where the fire was extinguished. Dahal's house was burnt, party office was burnt.
The houses of many like them were burnt, the party office was burnt. Many things have been burnt in the city where the lion palace and the court were burnt. This country has been destroyed many times in the name of struggle and agitation. The recent Gen-G movement has once again dealt a major blow to the country. In this process, from the party office to the government properties were burnt to ashes.
But, in the meantime, citizens are shocked to hear the response given by Dahal and other party leaders. Dahal did not hesitate to resolve to 'build a bigger and more beautiful building' when his party's office was burnt to ashes, but he did not show the sensitivity to express his grief to the people who suffered when the country's schools, government offices and public buildings were destroyed by fire.
political party office reconstruction is easy. Money can be raised, contractors can be found, magnificent buildings can be erected again. However, rebuilding people's trust and confidence is not so easy. Only the office of the party was concerned, but the courts were burnt, the Singha Darbar was burnt, many administrative buildings that provided services to the people were burnt, there was no concern about it. No grief was expressed for those killed in the movement. There was no sympathy for the family of the deceased.
Today's need is not for building, but for rebuilding culture. The first responsibility is to heal people's wounds, accept that loss of property is a common pain and resolve to restore trust between the state and its citizens. The
country has repeatedly given opportunities to leaders. However, the people have been repeatedly disappointed. Even now, if the party leadership fails to show real sensitivity towards the people, the next generation will remember leaders like Dahal as 'leaders who raise buildings but lose faith'. So there is still time – to feel the pain of the people, to heal their wounds and to prove that politics is not just a party building but the future of the entire nation. Chairman of the Maoist Center Dahal should also be concerned and interested in this.
