People's interests are paramount

It is unfortunate that Congress-UML share power and are far apart on issues. The differences between the two major parties that are power partners on important matters of policy and lawmaking have also resulted in work that must be done and must be done immediately. It is a tragedy for the common man.

For example, the different stances seen on issues of national importance such as the Constitution Amendment, Cyber Security Bill, Land Act, School Education and Civil Service Bill have also hindered the development and good governance of the country. It is unfortunate that there is such disagreement between the parties that are united in the government. It is sure to increase political instability as well as reduce public confidence. It seems that the parties are looking at their own interests, especially in the attempts to enact laws that violate the personal privacy of citizens, the intention to legalize polygamy and 'cooling off period'. In such cases, there is a need for the political party to rise above personal gain and prioritize the interests of the people accordingly.
