Attempts to impunity criminals under the guise of access and political influence
What you should know
Reading the news that 'girls were gang-raped, threats of displacement did not go unreported' made me very upset. This incident has presented a frightening picture of the perversion and insecurity prevalent in the society, which is not suitable for any civilized society. What could be more embarrassing than this?
It is clear that not only the rule of law, but also social morality and human sensibility are disappearing in Nepal by trying to settle the incident of gang rape of a 15-year-old girl in Rajviraj of Saptari and threatening to displace the family. The fact that the people's representatives and the leaders of the society are trying to prevent the victims' families from filing a complaint proves that even the elders of the society help in this heinous act.
This incident in Rajviraj is not just an exception. This is a representative example of many such incidents happening across the country. Whenever there is abuse and violence against girls, there is an attempt to free the perpetrators under the guise of money, access and political influence. It seems that the police administration is sometimes a victim of such pressure. At present, women leaders who raise the voice of women's empowerment are concentrated in the capital, so the voice of the victimized girls outside the capital is muted. Due to this, instead of getting justice, the victim is forced to suffer more mental and social torture.
In our society, it is the responsibility of the family, society and the state to protect girls. However, when the leaders of the society, people's representatives and the police administration stand on the side of criminals, then girls feel insecure within the society. Due to this, such incidents will continue and criminals will take advantage of impunity. The government should immediately take strict measures to prevent such incidents. Anyone involved in a heinous crime like rape should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The person who arranges, threatens and exerts pressure should also be brought under the scope of action accordingly.
