In our country, the merit system of selecting the Vice-Chancellor had already been implemented. But this time, the selection of the university was again the old pattern of bringing it from the pockets of the prime minister and the minister of education. Although the stories within Merit are also different, but they could not be improved.

The speech of the vice-chancellor is heard that the government failed in the plan of education, it could not project the human resources, so our education was not successful! And if the vice-chancellor has that ability, shouldn't the university help the government? Currently, the vice-chancellors of Kathmandu, Mid-West and Far-West University are selected on the basis of merit, not brought in from someone's pocket. Purvanchal, Rajarshi Janak, Pokhara and Nepal Sanskrit University which are selected on merit are also seen in the scenario. Then those vice-chancellors should not help in the higher education scheme of the state?

Vice Chancellor Phagat Jagire, who is ruminating within the circle of his university and enjoying temporary facilities, seems to be moving forward only with the thought of completing his four-year tenure anyway. This is their biggest weakness.

The vice-chancellor who understands that only the work, duties and rights prescribed by the university regulations are my responsibility, cannot bring innovation to the country's education. The vice chancellors have been unable to demonstrate research capacity in our universities, which are bound by traditional practices.
The vice-chancellor has a tendency to come after being called by the government agencies and come with unsent suggestions without research and facts, and to avoid saying that they will not call us if they are not called, and that is a sign of their incompetence.

The work of the university is not only his daily work (routine work), but the vice-chancellor has to work in a way that transforms the education system of the country as a whole. But irony! It was not possible to meet a vice chancellor who had such a mindset.

On top of that, the local, provincial and federal governments have not allowed the university to work politically. The practice of political parties through their student organizations and faculty organizations to do unethical things such as giving jobs to party workers, awarding university construction contracts to them, and keeping contract or temporary teaching staff to them is still a practice. If not, it seems that the same party is leading to instigate the lockdown and destroy the university.

However, it is the university that shakes the government, searches for new dimensions in education, builds, tests, refines and implements programs that benefit not only higher education but the entire education system. There are many ways in which a university vice-chancellor can contribute to education apart from his university work, explore them and prove yourself capable.
