To learn anything one needs a teacher. One cannot learn anything without the Guru's guidance, blessings. After Dronacharya refused to become his guru, Eklavya made an idol of him, but only after accepting him as his guru did he gain proficiency in archery. It means that acquiring knowledge and master is first and foremost a strong desire to learn. Without such a desire one does not feel the need for a Guru.

Arjuna always walked with Lord Krishna. But he didn't learn much. But when he had a curiosity at a particular time, or a strong desire to learn, Lord Krishna quenched his curiosity. From a good teacher like Lord Krishna and an inquisitive disciple like Arjuna, the eternal scripture Shrimad Bhagwat Gita was born. It depends on the student's interest and curiosity as to who to make a guru. As long as there is interest and curiosity, there is no shortage or sorrow of the Guru. The grace of God, the words of Saints, various scriptures, any special event or situation can become a guru to show us the right path. There are different kinds of Gurus – Vidyaguru, Shikshaguru, Dikshaguru, Sadguru, Natureguru etc. All of them have brought changes in our perception, behavior, habits and thinking. On the auspicious occasion of Gurupurnima, let us be grateful to all the Gurus who have always inspired us in this earthly life as well as wisdom and guide us on the bright path.
