Gayatri Lamsal's article published in Kantipur, "Jhole Mentality and Girdo Morality" has exposed a bitter truth of Nepali society.
The trend of not being able to consider and see others as better than oneself, always looking for one's own benefits and not being able to see the progress of others was criticized in a very simple and simple language. Even though the educational qualification is weak, the tendency to take flattery jobs and reach high positions is leaving capable people behind. Due to government laxity and moral decay in the bureaucracy, citizens have to suffer even to get basic services. This 'bag mentality' has badly affected the leadership class, bureaucracy, private sector and civil society.
In fact, we will continue to follow the 'bag mentality' until we abandon the tendency to 'just be right' and 'blame others'. Unless we come out of it, real development and good governance cannot be imagined. Many thanks Lamsalji for this inspiring article for positive change.
