Expectations of e-governance and digital universities

The notification that the provision of online application for ten services provided by the Tertiary Examination Control Office will come into effect from June 15th has cast a ray of hope on the students.

Everyone has experienced the fact that the most complained about office of the University is the Examination Control Office. Due to the centralized system, it is a positive thing that the Tertiary Examination Control Office is trying to provide electronic services in order to reduce complaints such as having to rush to get services from all over the country, not conducting examinations and publishing examination results on time, certificates not being received on time, many errors in examination documents, lack of information flow mechanism, and complicated arrangements.

The campaign to make public services paperless through electronic governance has been envisioned by the Digital Nepal Framework of the Government of Nepal since 2076. The University also adopted this and issued a five-year digitalization strategy and information technology policy in 2023. It has started adopting online payment technologies. The use of online technology has not only facilitated the process of providing services to students, but has also advanced the service system of the university through electronic documentation by integrating every administrative service into electronic governance.

Since the country's oldest school is now old, there is no choice but to continue with the old style of traditional service delivery or to move forward with the goal of digital university by absorbing the concept of timely electronic governance. This is also the desire of professors, students, staff and public stakeholders. Let's hope - soon we will hear and see that service delivery is guaranteed in digital technology from the University.
