The word 'bag' carries a very unseasonal meaning in Nepali political discourse. Especially after the year 2046, this word became like a symbol of workers who blindly surrender to a leader.

At that time, the dedicated workers of the party without critical awareness were sarcastically called 'Jhole'. The UML, which is now leading the coalition government, has started the 'Ma Jhole Ho' campaign using it again politically. It is appropriate to understand this as another attempt at linguistic politics.

This campaign, which was started as a reaction to the critical context that arose on the day of the Republic Day, has been publicly promoted by the post of UML President and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on social media. Oli claimed to be a 'bag' and explained carrying a bag as a 'symbol of collective struggle and change'. According to him, being a 'bag' does not mean being a slave of a feudal lord - it means carrying the burden of change, nationalism and development.

In this campaign, the participation of the top leaders of UML, the style of sharing posters and the use of political language. What this makes clear is that this campaign is not a serious ideological presentation. Rather, it was introduced as a response to the criticism of the time and as a measure of 'virtual image control'. It is not difficult to understand that UML has made its workers reactive to counter the criticism expressed against the current system, especially from the royalist side.

Is it a matter of pride to become a bag or not? Because its real appreciation can be done only through the discernment and critical consciousness of the worker. In reality, not propaganda and linguistic rewriting, but dedication to the party, courage to stand up for the people and transparency in institutional practice will determine the honor or disgrace of the word 'Jhole'.
