Helpless government before the syndicate

The network of syndicates in Nepal's transport sector has always been a topic of discussion and controversy. Seven years ago, the KP Sharma Oli-led government proudly announced that the syndicate had been abolished.

But today, the same government has again been forced to bow to the pressure of transport businessmen who are in favor of the syndicate. This incident has highlighted the government's weakness, policy instability and indifference towards public interest. This incident has raised serious questions about the government's leadership and administrative capacity. The government should show courage to ensure public interest and compliance with the law, not to yield to the pressure of the syndicate. Bringing competition and transparency in the transport sector by encouraging innovative services like 'ride sharing' is the need of the day. Otherwise, the government will not only lose its credibility by falling into the trap of syndicates, but will also cause unnecessary hardship to the lives of common citizens.
