The news published in Kantipur titled 'Government's neglect leading to the people' is a vivid example of our plight. Lalbakaiya bridge at Tikulia in Rautahat, which was laid foundation stone in 2071, has not been built even after 11 years.

The bridge was contracted to be built within three years, but the progress did not exceed 17 percent despite repeated extensions, and the Road Division, Rautahat broke the contract and entrusted it to another company. However, the bridge is still standing.

Many such bridges, which were laid by the prime minister with pomp, have not been built in Madhesh. The work of the contractor company is not monitored, on the contrary, such bridges were not built due to the tendency to give pessimism and extend the deadline for their benefit.

Similarly, after 11 years of the foundation stone of the bridge in Banjaria, Bara, the bridge has not been built, and the people's representatives are angry with the contractor. Similarly, the then physical planning minister Ramesh Lakhtar had laid the foundation stone of 5 bridges in Rautahat, but until the deadline was extended three times, those bridges were not ready to be built. The bridge over Lamaha Khola in Chandranigahpur, which was awarded the contract of more than 90 million by Pappu-Shivashankar JV, which was laid by him, is still standing still.

Dudhaura bridge connecting Jitpur Simra, Prasauni and Kalaiya in Bara has been stopped due to defects. It is certain that such bridges will not be built as long as there is a practice of running away for 10 months after the contract is awarded and extending the deadline blindly with a request for an extension in the 11th month.
