Since the beginning of May, there was a wide discussion and various speculations among the employees about what percentage salary will be increased this time.
It is also a common practice to increase salaries every two to three years with inflation. But the government ignored all these speculations and increased the allowance by only 3 thousand. I found this work of the government very commendable and prudent.
The government loses a lot by increasing the salary. Increasing the salary not only increases the salary but also increases the employee provident fund. There is a rule that the amount of grade will increase and the pension of retired employees will also increase by two-thirds of the increased salary. It is heard that the economic condition of the country is not good and it is necessary to take loans even to pay the employees. If this is the case, there will be a compulsion not to increase the salary of the employees, but to reduce it. There is no time to establish a tradition of increasing the dearness allowance in this way even though it has to be increased. Also, the pension facility should be cut. Perhaps not understanding this, retired employees were also heard protesting the 'increased dearness allowance'.
Recently, the government had issued the 'Standards for making public expenditure frugal and effective-2081' in the Nepal Gazette Part 5 on February 8, 2081. Some may not know this. However, this also shows that the government wants to be frugal. But the government, which is anxious to make the people thrifty, does not know about reducing its number and service facilities?
