The importance and glory of Lumbini, the sacred birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, is not only spread in Nepal but also in the world. Millions of devotees visit this holy land where Lord Buddha's remains are buried and visit the Buddha every year.
A master plan was drawn up in 1975 to enrich and enrich this land, which is listed as a World Heritage Site. Which is almost complete. Under the master plan, there was a plan to protect the archaeological importance of the Buddha and give land to open parks, meditation and yoga centers, land for monasteries and temples to be built to show the importance of the Buddha to foreign friendly countries, and land for the construction of dharamshalas for visitors.
Under this master plan spread over about 1100 bighas, many friendly countries have built temples, monasteries and hospices. However, there have been some disputes over the land of Buddha Bhoomi. Which needs to be resolved in a transparent manner. Otherwise this land will become a pot of money for many politicians. Which will discredit both Nepal and Nepali people.
It is not possible to buy and sell land within the master plan of Buddhabhumi. But it can be given on lease. And that too only to create a work to reflect the glory of the Buddha to foreign friendly countries. This is the good part. However, news has come out that some sitting ministers have misused their authority and misused the land of Buddhbhoomi. Which is not only regrettable but also against the law.
When KP Oli was Prime Minister for the second time, under his own pressure, the fact that land was given against the rules in Lumbini to build a memorial for Angchiring Sherpa of Yeti Group has come out. In this way, it is possible for a person to give land in Lumbini against the rules or not? If not, why hasn't it been repealed yet? Let the government clarify. Not only that, the land of Lumbini has been leased to which organizations, individuals or friendly countries during the tenure of which ministers for how many years? The government should issue a white paper on that. And only the tendency to bully will stop. Bullying leaders and ministers are known.
Also hoteliers outside Lumbini have alleged that some friendly countries have taken advantage of the business as guest houses. It should also be monitored. And only Buddha land is considered protected. Like Lumbini, the lands under the Nepal Trust have also been leased to whom and for what amount? A white paper needs to be released on that. It is also necessary to investigate about 2900 ropani land of Gokarna Forest under Nepal Trust given to Yeti at the price of Kaudi.
