As a country rich in water resources, the role of rivers has been the best for us. First of all, the rivers scattered all over the country are being used for drinking water, electricity generation and irrigation.
Apart from maintaining environmental cleanliness, activities like rafting, boating, swimming, bungee jump, trekking, adventure travel have been directly and indirectly connected with Nadinala, Taltalaiya. We are not unaware of the fact that highways and paved roads are being built on the banks of the river for the last few decades. Although the article titled 'Civilization of Kaligand in crisis' written by RK Adipta Giri is focused on the river itself, it can be considered that it reflects the naked picture of water and land mafia in the whole country.
In Kaligandaki, which has multifaceted importance, without evaluating the overall environmental impact, the issue of cutting, blocking, indiscriminate exploitation of stones, gravel, and sand in the entire river has worried everyone. Adhering to false reports and trying to build diversions and reservoirs is sure to lead to water crisis, loss of biodiversity and shock to the geological structure in the near future. Taking destructive action against Kaligandaki with the involvement of government agencies is highly condemnable. On the other hand, Sunkoshi, Chure Rural Municipality of Kailali, Tinau River and countless other places have been occupied by land mafia for a long time, even when they are about to destroy the existence and dignity of unique rivers, it has become a dangerous issue for the country.
