In terms of embodying the sustainable development of Nepal, the target set by the government in 2018 should be considered correct for the upliftment of the country and the people.

The news published on the Artha Commerce page, "Sustainable development goals can only be achieved if we invest 30 billion per year" must have shocked our top leadership and those in power who are unable to bring in large investments. Eradication of poverty, end of hunger, ensuring healthy life, quality education, gender equality, clean drinking water and sanitation are considered as the main goals of sustainable development. Similarly, goals such as access to energy for common people, inclusive, sustainable and broad economic growth, strong infrastructure, and sustainable industrialization cannot be considered unreasonable for all-round development. Other goals include ending inequality, inclusive, safe and sustainable human settlements, sustainable consumption and production, mitigating the effects of climate change, conservation of marine resources, sustainable ecosystems and partnership programs in implementing sustainable development.
The National Planning Commission has announced the above sustainable development goals and it is seen that 211 trillion 65 billion rupees will be required to implement the goals in the period of 2024-30, while our current annual budget is only around 18 trillion. In this way, 35 percent additional funds are required in the current situation to achieve the numerous goals. It is sad to say that so far most of our development programs have been like pouring water on sand. No matter how sweet words are made, the fact that poverty has increased 'twofold during the day and fourfold at night' is not hidden from anyone.
No matter whether it is the slogan of breaking the roots of development of Panchayat regime, bringing Nepal to Asian standards, or the slogan of Bishweshwar with the poor after the political change or prosperous Nepal is happy Nepali, the foundation of development has not been established by anyone. The theme of the tourism decade has been stalled, while the specter of achieving sustainable development through remittances and subsidies has loomed large among the rulers. Sustainable development will only be a daydream until the end of youth migration, preservation of original Nepali style government buildings, low physical construction, nature conservation, larger programs of agriculture and tourism, import substitution etc.
