The East-West railway became limited only to the dreams of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Construction of a dam is underway for the establishment of a railway parallel to the East-West highway from Bardiwas in Mahottari.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and the Railway Department have to show great planning and courage to make this dream come true. However, the people of this area are disappointed when the work does not seem to be progressing. About 32 billion has been invested for railways in Nepal. 600 bighas of land has been acquired for the railway by paying around 10 billion. Despite such a large investment, the thinking of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and the Railway Department does not seem long-term.

Even after 10 years of land acquisition, the compensation has not been distributed. The government has not seen that the people are suffering due to land seizure. For the past 8-10 years, except for 1-2 people, all the Director Generals who have come to the Railway Department seem to have come only to cut down their vacation time.

The farmers of Mahottari-Bardiwas section, where the compensation rate has been published, sometimes went to the ministry, sometimes the department and sometimes the Janakpur office to get the compensation. There is fear that if the land owners will not get compensation for 10 years, the railway authorities will not implement the government's plan and the dam from Bardiwas to Simra section will also become dilapidated, railways will be just a dream in Nepal.
