The sixth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multisectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) has been successfully concluded. This is a happy thing.

At the same time, the sad thing is that while raising or saving BIMSTEC, another regional organization SAARC, which was born long before that, was not killed. For the last 5 years, the SAARC Summit has not been held due to India's disagreement. India does not want to hold the SAARC conference to overshadow Pakistan. It's like an 'open secret'.

At this time, Nepal should be able to increase its role and capacity and put pressure on setting the date of the SAARC Summit. Earlier, India was showing Pakistan's cause and taking Bangladesh into its hands, stopping the SAARC conference and advancing BIMSTEC. But now, after the change of power in Bangladesh and the new government is closer to Pakistan than India, India has got a big headache.
