I live in Kharkholi in Surkhet Birendra Nagar. There are four people in the family, son, daughter, daughter-in-law and me. Her husband, who went looking for work when his son is one and a half years old and his daughter is pregnant, is missing.

Although I raised my children by working and sweeping, I could not teach them. We have slept hungry for many nights. The son has now gone to India for work.

When I see other people's houses and farms, I feel like it would be my own, but it's like a dream. Since 2058, I have been living in government land of Surkhet Birendranagar Municipality-7 Kharkholi. Our house was destroyed during Corona. It is not known where some families have gone. We, 6 families from 5 houses, could not go anywhere. We were told to go but not shown where to go. So where to go? The house my son and I built with the money we made from the dishes was demolished with a dozer. It hurt more than a dozer in my heart. Many insults, insults and coercion were given, but we continued to stay at home again.

Now it's been a few days without sleep or hunger. Micking is going on saying that the house will be demolished at 1 pm on 11th of Chait. We have requested many times to the mayor and others for the safety of our homes. I heard that the matter of giving land to Dalits is written in the constitution and the law! That is why you have made the caste (land) commission every year. We have also submitted an application in the hope of getting land. Till today we have not got the land but we are struggling to save even the hut we built ourselves. Will the state help the weak for housing and livelihood or make them miserable?
We have not said that we need the land we are currently sitting on, we are ready to go if we are given a chance. Our house should not be destroyed until we have a proper housing arrangement. Please listen to me as a landless dalit single woman. Please save the house of 6 families including me.
