It was very sad to read the news published in Kantipur on February 15 titled 'Three out of four ships of the corporation 'grounded', 2 thousand passengers stranded'.
On the one hand, air tickets are being sold at expensive rates due to the increase in passenger traffic, on the other hand, two narrow bodies and one wide body of the national flag carrier Nepal Air Service Corporation have been 'grounded' at the same time, causing unnecessary stress and stranded passengers.
3 of the 4 jets with the corporation are grounded, due to this, the flights scheduled in advance to more than 6 destinations including India, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia were canceled at the last moment. The corporation has accepted that 2,000 passengers were stranded due to careless arrangements. Keeping a large number of stranded passengers in hotels, arranging food and flights, and sending some of them by other planes, it can be easily estimated that the corporation administration has suffered financial expenses as well.
Now a single widebody of the corporation has to travel to only 10 destinations. This has added delay and stress to the passengers due to flight delays, unnecessary and additional expenses.
The Corporation, which bought a few ships by taking out a loan, has reduced the destination. The plane
is breaking down one after the other. But even in such problems, the corporation management is not concerned, when asked or questioned, they irresponsibly reply that there is no problem and all the ships will start flying tomorrow-Thursday. How long is this irresponsible and reckless?
