An example of the efficiency of our leaders, engineers and contractors is the flyover bridge under construction at Gwarko in Kathmandu. Kantipur has also published news in this regard many times.
Last time, the news published in the first week of January touched the hearts of many.
How many months have passed since its construction? How often was the design changed? Why do contractors leave work in between? Why can't the government work? How long will millions of people continue to suffer? Does the government have an answer? How can we believe the speeches given by our policy makers who cannot build the Jabo 500 meter flyover in time that they will work for development and prosperity?
Thailand has shown an example that if the leader has the will power, great development and change is possible in the country within 10 years. Why can't our leaders and policy makers see this? Whether this happened because of lack of vision and willpower in our leaders or because they have no knowledge of how to develop the country, it is not clear.
Our leaders are always wearing the same rattan, now let's make Nepal like Singapore and Japan. Every year they spend money from national treasury and share abroad. However, the achievement has not been seen in practice except on paper. Our leaders' foreign visits seem to be only for their personal entertainment. It has not helped the development of the country.
While walking around the city of Bangkok, the whole city felt like a city in the sky. Not only one-two-story but also three-four-story bridges were seen. Not only the hundreds of skyscrapers, but also the lighthouse visible from the night cruise dinner on the Chao Phrayi River, showed the development, prosperity and splendor of Bangkok. At least once on behalf of the government of Nepal, if the 275 MPs of the House of Representatives were given a night view of the Chao Pheri river, would our leaders also have a sense of development and prosperity?
Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia and South Korea were in the same situation until 25 years ago. But where are we today? Where did they get to? What stopped us from developing the country? The country would have made a big leap in development even if it was possible to make a law that could take strict action against the contractor who fails to complete the contract on time!
