On January 29th in Kantipur, I read a joint article by Aastha Dahal and Shankar Neupane called 'Aushadhi var Kitanu Ko Judhai'. I do not disagree with what the WHO said or the authors' conclusions.

But they attributed the entire cause of AMR to the indiscriminate use of drugs. In 1928, Fleming developed penicillin. It was called Ramwan for infection. But it did not touch TB, nor typhoid, which spread after World War II. Streptomycin for TB and chloramphenicol for typhoid around 1956.

Penicillin is not used for anything other than syphilis these days. Chloramphenicol is no longer useful for typhoid. This is due to scientific and medical use. It is not fair to place the entire blame on the random user. I don't know what happened before in America? But today there is no medicine available from the shop without a doctor's prescription. In our country and in India, only some medicines are available in stock. Here too, if all medicines are made to be given only under the prescription of a doctor, another problem will arise. It will unnecessarily force the poor to go to the doctor. This increases the financial burden on the poor.
