Today's age is the age of technology. The contribution of modern technology to the development, prosperity and sustainability of any country cannot be denied.
A developing country like Nepal can learn a lot from a progressive country like Japan. Japan's cutting-edge technology, especially traffic management and smart parking systems, can be emulated by Nepal.
Japan is famous worldwide for its excellent traffic management system. The traffic light used here is not just a signal display device but a technology friendly system. These lights facilitate traffic management by measuring the number of vehicles and pedestrians through sensors. It plays an important role in reducing the problem of traffic jams and reducing the risk of accidents. Likewise, smart parking systems help in efficient use of limited space. The system coordinates with digital apps, GPS and other technologies to provide effective solutions for identifying parking locations, paying fees and managing time. The situation of traffic management and parking in Nepal is challenging.
Traffic jams and lack of parking in big cities are becoming serious problems day by day. Nepal can find a long-term solution to these problems through proper study and adaptation of Japan's technology. By installing sensor traffic lights in Kathmandu Valley, traffic management can be made effective by changing the signal according to the number of vehicles. Traffic management can also be facilitated through the use of CCTV cameras and networking systems for digital traffic systems at key intersections. Smart parking system is another important area that can be implemented in the cities of Nepal. Digital parking apps and smart card systems can bring transparency and efficiency in places like big malls, office areas and hospitals. The concept of multilevel parking system in Nepal can also solve the parking problem.
Nepal can test the effectiveness of these technologies by conducting a pilot project concept immediately. Necessary manpower can be prepared by training Nepali technicians in modern traffic and parking management in collaboration with Japan. Collaboration between government and private sector through public-private partnership model will help in its smooth implementation. Overall, if Nepal learns from Japan's technology and experience and implements traffic management and smart parking systems, it will not only solve the city's traffic problems, but also help in economic and social development. Only with the right use of technology, the country can be moved on the path of prosperity.
