It cannot be said that all social media users use it wrongly. The government cannot bring a control-oriented bill that bans social media on the grounds that some people have done something wrong.
Civil liberties should not be violated in the name of social networking. Citizens can express their displeasure towards the government on social media while expressing their
thoughts, they can also be in the form of passion. But how to measure it?
It seems that the government is trying to curtail the freedom of the citizens while it should be moving towards the advancement of citizens and strengthening the system. Now people are depressed, their place to speak and write has become social media. If it is controlled, where will the people go and speak? It is not allowed to speak on the street, it is not allowed to write on social media, and where is speaking and writing? If the policy is strong, the government will be strong. A government cannot become a dictator by violating the rights of citizens.
No one is above the constitution. No one can violate the rights given by the constitution. Yesterday, during the Panchayat period, one could not speak or write about the King/Maharaja. The people of Nepal brought the democratic republic so that they would have the freedom to speak and write, was the panchayat system of yesterday correct? Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Tik Tok will be fined up to 1 million rupees and users will be fined 1.5 million rupees and imprisoned for up to 5 years if they do not comply with the prescribed conditions. Which has been widely opposed. The government should listen to the voice of the people and amend the bill.
