The four martyrs who were given the death penalty while fighting against the rule of the Ranas are ideal personalities of Nepal.

Exactly 86 years ago today or in 1997, we celebrate Martyr's Day to commemorate the shooting and hanging of the devout Mathema, Dashrath Chand, Shukraraj Shastri and Gangalal Shrestha by the Ranas. Some of them were killed by shooting and some were hanged from trees while protesting against the excesses of the Rana regime, and the government of the democratic system established after the fall of the Rana regime declared them martyrs. As they sacrificed their lives for the welfare of the country and the people regardless of their lives, their sacrifices are less appreciated. The need of the day is to be able to lead the country towards development and prosperity as per their wishes by remembering and commemorating the martyrs.
