The contemporary name of the leaders coming to the forefront of current Nepali politics is - Vamdev Gautam. Gautam, who has spent almost all of his political life in active politics, seems to have faded away, but has recently come back into the limelight.
But his current discussion is not due to the fact that he has reached political leadership, won the election, or because of the success he got by holding a responsibility of a government agency. Gautam, who has a communist background, formed the CPN under his own leadership on 21 February 2054 after objecting to the passage of the Mahakali Treaty by a two-thirds majority of the then parliament on October 4, 2053. Gautam returned to the UML after the Male led by him failed to win a single seat in the 2056 elections. Gautam, who split the party in opposition to Nepal's Mahakali Treaty, returning to his old party because he lost the election, can it be interpreted that he split the party for the sake of the nation, or is it that he returned to the party because he saw his politics in crisis after losing the election? If the party had been formed to contribute to the nation, he would have continued his efforts and tried to win the party and get approval from the people. It seems that the political activity of Gautam, who returned to his old party after a short time of party formation, started from there. He is known as a leader who cannot survive in politics without office.
Even when he lost the election, he repeatedly pressured the leaders within his reach to take him to the National Assembly and he became a member of the National Assembly. After reaching the National Assembly, he kept telling the then CPN leaders that a member of the National Assembly should be made the Prime Minister, which was not envisaged by the constitution.
Among the leaders of the then UML, Gautam is one of the leaders who had the good fortune to go to the government on behalf of the party. On June 3, 2073, Gautam, who was a member of the secretariat of the then CPN-Maoist Center and the UML, stayed apart in 2077 after the Supreme Court returned the two parties Maoist Center and UML to their original status. Gautham was considered by everyone to have left active politics as he was cutting off neto with age and remained passive in politics. In a way, Gautam seemed to have retired from politics. But lately, he has suddenly come into the limelight due to rumors that sometimes he will join Madhav Kumar Nepal's United Socialist Party and sometimes he will return to his old party, UML. Due to his late age, lack of a strong organization and his lax tendencies, neither Gautam has been able to enter the UML easily, nor Nepal has been able to accommodate him by addressing his unnatural demands.
