Capture of government assets by the corrupt

Preservation of government property and historical heritage is a major responsibility of the government and related agencies.

However, Nuwakot's historic Shera Darbar and its famous 164-ropani land embezzlement have proved that the roots of corruption continue to grow deeper by misusing power and authority. This palace, which has a historical importance since the time of Prithvi Narayan Shah, has been converted into a museum and it should be a jewel of the country due to the selfishness of the land mafia and the weak morals of the political leadership, making it a personal property. No one can forget the history of Maoist leadership making people's sacrifice and struggle a ladder to power. However, after coming to power, by playing with people's property and rights, this party has only made itself a tool to maintain power. Maoist leadership's help and abuse of power to transfer historical properties like Shera Darbar to the ownership of Vikesh Shrestha's family exposes the deep stench of Nepali politics.

Such interference on historical heritage is not only corruption, but a blow to the country's pride. The accountability and responsibility of the government is in question here. Unless a site like Shera Darbar is freed from land mafia possession, any claim by the government will appear ineffective to the public. It is welcome that CIB has written to the government and authorities for action but it should not be a mere paper process. It is necessary to bring the culprits to justice and bring the property under the control of the government. Now is the time to prove your efficiency and integrity to the government. Protecting historical heritage and public property is not a matter of interest of any party or individual. It is a matter of pride and future of the nation. If such corrupt tendencies are not curbed with immediate action, people will never be ready to trust. Let the government take firm steps to free the historical site from mafia possession.
