Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who was once praised by the people as a nationalist leader, has recently been subjected to constant criticism and insults.
It can be understood that the confidence in him is decreasing due to the loud sloganeering at the Basantpur program, public insults seen on the Darbarmarg and sporadic protest activities outside the capital. The fact that he did not get the expected honor even at the opening ceremony of the View Tower held in Grihazilla Damak and faced harsh questions from students inside Nepal is a glimpse of Oli's weakening image. He was also absent in the finals of important competitions of the country like NPL. It is understandable that he is running away from possible criticism and insults in his presence.
Oli's leadership was never without controversy, but his nationalist image and the people's trust were his strong points. Now, as this trust is gradually disappearing, the criticism on him is getting tougher. The impact of some controversial decisions and statements made during his tenure is now showing. Oli, who once inspired the people with his proud speech and stance, has now been limited to the circle of questions. This sequence is a serious sign for Oli's political future. Losing people's trust is the biggest crisis for leadership and Oli has become a direct example of this. Now is the time for introspection. He can re-establish his image and influence to some extent only by accepting the mistakes of the past and choosing the path of reform. Otherwise, this waning faith in him will remain a lesson in political history that time is not always on everyone's side.
