When KP Sharma Oli was the Prime Minister for the second time, he inaugurated the View Tower in Damak, Jhapa, which was laid the foundation stone in the year 2076. Whether it is lawful for the Prime Minister to inaugurate a structure without a map pass is also questionable.
Even if the map was made after passing, the investment in the view tower looks like pouring water on the sand. An estimated cost of 500 million rupees will be required to provide access to road facilities and other infrastructure to the tower which is built at a cost of one and a half billion on five bighas at a distance of about three kilometers from Damak Bazaar. It can be understood that the tower built in such a place has misused state funds.
If the Prime Minister inaugurates, such structure will not get discussion and it will not be properly utilized. When Oli was the prime minister, in February 2075, he inaugurated the Panijahaj office and it was overshadowed with the inauguration. During Oli's time, works such as the inauguration of the unbuilt Dharahara, the laying of the foundation stone of 657 local hospitals at the same time.
seems to be done for the sake of being in the limelight rather than doing all this. All such physical structures inaugurated by Oli several times during his tenure as Prime Minister are unused, while most of the structures laid by the foundation are standing still. Damak View Tower is also not seen to be in use immediately. Not only that, there is no coordination with the local government during the inauguration.
There is no development infrastructure in that place, nor is the presence of people sufficient. Oli said that 'those who say that a business complex does not run in the middle of a farm should be surprised later'. The cost of the tower could have been invested in many places where the public would have direct and immediate benefits. In Oli's own words, it can be understood that the investment made in 'Jhapa's Damak Business Complex' is like water on sand.
