The message given by the by-election

The results of the recently concluded local level by-elections 2081 indicated that the people's faith in the old powers Congress, UML and Maoists remained.

The by-elections have given relief to the old parties, even if it is a little, amid the comments of increasing discontent and anger towards the old parties. Although the Rashtriya Swatantra Party won the ward chairmanship in Kathmandu-16, its performance in other areas was disappointing. This result shows that people in rural areas are not yet ready to consider RSVP as an alternative. This result shows that Ravi Lamichhane's party RSVP, which was arrested in the co-operative fraud case, needs to make extensive improvements in its politics. It is clear that people are looking for a new alternative in thought and action rather than a face alternative.

The election has also shown improvement for the ruling Congress and UML. The people have also sent a message to the government that the way the government is working is not satisfactory now that Congress and UML have lost the municipalities and wards that they won earlier. People can leave Congress and UML at any time if they find a suitable and reliable alternative. Congress and UML, which were contesting the elections through several alliances, have now made their true position known through the results of the people. It was clear that people did not like the past games of influencing public opinion by forming this or that alliance. Therefore, the people have given the message to the big parties that it is better to fight the election alone with their issue rather than to form an alliance for power.
Even though the election gave some encouragement to the Maoists, it is not clear whether it is because of the Maoists themselves or because of their dissatisfaction with the ruling party that their performance has improved. Some of the anti-corruption actions carried out by the previous government under Prachanda's leadership, including other reforms, may have had a positive impact on the people. In the case of Ravi Lamichhane, it can be assumed that the Maoists suffered less damage as they were out of power when the country was divided into two camps. After overthrowing the Prachanda government and forming the government by Congress and UML, there was a kind of sympathy towards Prachanda. Due to the weak presence of other new parties including RSVP in the places where the elections were held, the neutral vote seems to have gone to the Maoists. The Maoists, who have always contested elections by forming alliances, have performed better this time when they fought alone. This election has also proved wrong the comment that Maoists can fight alone. Elections have given a message that Maoists who are constantly raising people's issues can bring back the old legacy.

The weak performance of RPR and other monarchist parties indicates that there is no sympathy in the hearts of the people for the issue of Hindu nation including monarchy. The result shows that people are not ready to think about the alternative of this constitution. This is a clear sign that people's interest in the basic provisions of this constitution, including republicanism, secularism, and inclusive proportional representation, has not decreased. Overall, through this by-election, the people have given a clear message to the old political parties to improve and work in favor of the people, and to the new alternative parties to change their political style and give them alternatives in their thinking and tendencies. Every possibility of retrogression has been completely denied.
