At one time, there was a rule that savings of more than 25 lakhs could not be kept in cooperatives. However, the limit of savings has been removed by amending the Cooperative Act 2074. Although the subject of setting the limit was raised in the parliamentary committee, the saving limit was removed when the big cooperatives lobbied hard and enticed the parliamentarians. The root of the distortion started from there.

Now cooperative societies have become a place to hide illegal money of employees and traders. To prevent this, the government needs to set the limit of savings in cooperatives immediately. which prevents the co-operative's savings from being embezzled. Today, many cooperatives have collapsed due to arbitrary spending and investment by the directors.

The government should immediately set a savings limit in cooperatives, put the cooperative stabilization fund into operation and implement a credit information center like banks. Although the matter of having a credit information center is in the Cooperative Act, it has not yet been put into practice. Even a single borrower is misappropriating savings by taking money from 10 cooperatives. If we work on such matters, 75 percent of the problems of cooperatives will be solved.
