The trend of opposing every foreign aid and investment in Nepal with the slogan of treason is becoming the biggest problem of our country. Those who heated the streets calling BIPPA and MCC anti-national are supporting the same negative thinking about BRI today.

This is seriously damaging our foreign policy and economic development. Even though there is an agreement that we can bring in necessary investments for the country's welfare, the short-sighted thinking of the parties, the inability to properly analyze profit and loss, and the habit of misleading the public are pushing us back.

Like the debate on Bippa and MCC, attempts are being made to make BRI controversial. Amid the ambiguity of loans or grants, the 'BRI Cooperation Framework' has been signed. Any major project should be dealt with in a timely manner.

Our leaders never took this responsibility seriously. There is a need for strategic thinking rather than spreading slogans of treason on the streets. Countries like Sri Lanka and Pakistan are stuck in the quagmire of debt through BRI, but Nepal should not follow such a wrong path and adopt the right thinking. Without misusing

investment opportunities, it is imperative that the government, public and policy makers all think about how they can be converted to benefit the country. However, if the trend of portraying every foreign aid as a conspiracy is not stopped, the future of Nepal will only become poverty and dependence.

Now the question people should ask the government is why every foreign aid becomes controversial? Do the leaders not know the real needs of the country, or are they caught up in their own interests? Foreign investment is indispensable to make Nepal independent. Be it BRI or any other project, the government should make a clear vision and strategy to attract investment while ensuring profit in the national interest.
