The news published in Kantipur titled 'Tatkallai Udyogka Electricity Lines will not be cut' raised a big question. Because the meeting of the Nepal Electricity Authority Board of Directors has made a strange and discriminatory decision to cut off the power of industries that do not pay dues in dedicated and trunk line disputes.
Despite the disagreement of two officials of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Authority, after sending a four-point directive letter, the line will not be disconnected even if the electricity dues are not paid. But Executive Director of Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghisingh, has demanded to be able to recover the dues by cutting the line even to the houses of non-paying traders.
It is well known that when the government intervenes in the correct and effective performance of the government-owned electricity authority, not only many unnecessary disputes but also financial losses are caused. As a proof of this, the industrialists do not pay dues as much as possible, doubt the electricity bills and when they insist on paying the dues, they meet the head of the government and prove that the tariff bill itself is false. General consumers will be fined if they are even one day late in paying the tariff. But the businessmen do not have to pay the outstanding amount? Why such discrimination?
