The Gen-ji Rebellion and Political Transformation

The people entrusted the political leadership with the responsibility of protecting the democracy achieved after the huge sacrifices of the Nepali people. There was a popular demand that the main leadership of the major political parties would put an end to extreme poverty, corruption and inequality.

Not only this, there was a certain belief that in the Federal Democratic Republic, which was brought about by the people, the leaders are the servants of the people and the basic rights of the people like quality education, health and employment as well as freedom of speech are protected. However, after the change in the system, some leaders sank into arrogance, arrogance, government attitude and autocracy.

Arrogance and executionist attitude came to ride on the leader who should be a servant of the people. The constant deception of the people continued. There was bound to be a rebellion against such an arrogant state ruler at some point, which exploded through the Gen-Ji rebellion.

Chairman of CPN (UML) the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's totalitarian tendencies are seen within the party. Since 2048, Oli, who has been the Prime Minister of the country four times, has been an MP for Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister, and has been in power continuously. However, he has not done any concrete work to address the needs and desires of the Nepalese people.

Instead, his role is to push people to extreme despair and despair. Oli, who became the president from the ninth convention held in 2071, still presents the pretensions of ruling over the country and the people by becoming the president again after arbitrariness in the party. Planned bans on youth, women and the marginalized. Such actions of Oli, who has failed many times in the exams, could not fill the people with a ray of new hope.

He was not accountable to the people, he had to please various interest groups, factions and middlemen. Deuba, who has been the Congress president since 2048, has been a minister and prime minister five times, or Madhav Kumar Nepal, who has been the general secretary of the UML for 15 years, has been the president of the CPN (Unified Socialist) since 2051.

Similarly, Prachanda is the Maoist leader who led the people's war for ten years with the dream of liberating the people. The questions expressed by the people through various movements, revolutions and struggles were not addressed. The explosion of the people, who were fed up and fed up with the constant deception on the people by everyone, happened through the Gen-G rebellion.

A ban on social media was an important demand of the Fukuwa Zen-ji movement. As the people criticized the government and the leadership, Oli was intent on curtailing the people's freedom of expression by shutting down social media.

The social media bill was being discussed. But he shut down the social network without any study of the impact on the public. Not only that, he even went so far as to ignore and humiliate Jen-ji. The sarcasm and expression of a person in a position of responsibility like the Prime Minister naturally resulted in rebellion and that is what happened.

People pay taxes, sell blood and sweat to foreign lands and send remittances and take foreign loans breaking people's backs, but the leaders' children live lavish lives by misusing those resources, forced the Gen-G generation to raise questions.

Tax is the wealth of the people, but after exploitation of state resources and corruption, the life of the people became more and more difficult, the Napokids, Napobaby movement was started all over the world. An important issue linked to this campaign to expose the lifestyles of children of corrupt leaders was corruption and irregularities. The end of corruption in the country and the establishment of good governance was another important question of the Gen-G movement.

Along with these demands, the movement made by Gen-G was supported by the youth. On August 23, the state executed 21 youths in a single day with executional repression during the Gen-G demonstration held to hold the state and people's representatives accountable. As a result, on the second day of the Gen-ji uprising, the country was on fire. Finally Badshah Oli had to resign.

irony! Due to the infiltration and chaos during the second day of the movement, not only public and private property was destroyed, but a very large number of people were killed. On the second day, 53 people lost their lives. More than 74 people lost their lives in two days of protest, it is very sad and condemnable.  message of

movement

The Gen-G rebellion has given a clear message that political leadership and leaders who have come to power through the power of the people interfere with the people, and the people will not tolerate it and rebel. There are examples in Nepal where autocratic state power has fallen due to the strength of the people. Therefore, the Zen-G movement has directed the government to be prepared to face the rebellion of the hardy people against the arrogance, arrogance and autocratic leadership that does not work in favor of the people.

Corruption and misrule is a very big problem in Nepal. Brokers, corrupt and middlemen have been playing the biggest role in the running of the state. People reject such corrupt, corrupt and repeatedly failed leadership. The Jen-Ji Rebellion forced the corrupt political leadership to flee. This uprising has also exposed a clear sign that corruption in the personnel, police administration, courts and public services should be eradicated.

People want quality education, healthcare, employment, information-communication and freedom. They are looking at the technology, services and facilities that their age group is practicing in developed countries. It is the natural desire of the new generation to use the progress that is happening day by day.

technology has become a basic necessity of life. The youth will advance on the path of human life but the state ignores the needs of the people. Gives pain step by step, makes one happy. Gen-ji rebels to end such a practice. Not only this, the Jen-G rebellion has also given the message that if the state is not accountable and responsible, the disaffected classes and communities will revolt.

upcoming political path

An interim government has been formed after the rebellion of Jen-Ji and a huge loss of life. Political party leaders are gradually reaching the party office. In August 2024, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to leave the country after student protests in Bangladesh. About a year later, the Gen-G rebellion in Nepal led to the resignation of the Prime Minister and the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

In this movement there was an explosion of passion, anger and discontent of Gen-G, the young and disaffected group. There was strong opposition to freedom of expression and corruption. Perhaps, the interim government will set up a commission to investigate corruption. However, corruption and irregularities are not the only issues that appear on the general cover. Its structural foundations, interrelationships with middlemen, brokers and mafia, collusion of employees and government machinery should be carefully studied and strong action should be taken against the culprits. This issue needs to be carefully looked at by the rebel Gen-G and concrete work needs to be done on structural transformation.

The Gen-G movement succeeded to the extent of bringing the government to its knees, a partial achievement. It could bring out the intense anger towards the activities of political parties. It has created a stir in the heart of the corrupt. It is not only Gen-J's, but the demand for radical change that the people want. Establishing good governance, building prosperous governance and ending corruption are the political agenda. These political issues cannot be analyzed and resolved from a non-political perspective.

Therefore, it is necessary for Gen-G to give the state an alternative with political ideas, approaches and programs for structural transformation to end corruption, irregularity and anarchy. Socio-economic transformation cannot be achieved only by the continuation of the process of holding elections and forming a new government in 6 months, therefore, Gen-G's activism is also necessary in creating an ideology and approach to find a long-term solution to the problems of Nepali society and the nation.

Besides, another important question now is that structural transformation is only possible from a political point of view, so political transformation cannot be completed by banning political parties, it is necessary for Gen-ji and the youth to think deeply about this.

Nepal's political parties and leadership have been tested many times by the people. Instead of turning back to the people and addressing the needs of the people, the party is indulging in the service of power and interest groups. The Gen-J rebellion has provided an opportunity for political parties to undergo a serious review and reform. The coup gave the mandate to collectivize the bureaucratic leadership system, listen to the voices of Gen-G, women, Dalits and marginalized communities.

suggested the party's youth and gen-ji to think and change about the leadership, improve the party's system and turn towards the way forward by creating ideas, approaches and policies that address the people's issues. When the existence of the party that cannot create ideas, approaches, organization, plans and programs in accordance with the needs of the new era is being questioned, the door of the possibility of radical change of the party has been opened. The country will not be freed from the present way of the party, the people will not be freed.

If there is no sign of transformation in the country even after Gen-Ji's rebellion, the weight of despair will be imposed on the people, the gap of mistrust will deepen and eventually the rebellion will turn into the status quo or be pushed in the opposite direction from the circle of regression.

Therefore, a conclusion should be made about whether the old political parties will survive or die or will move forward in a different way according to the new environment. Now, not only the transformation of the political party, but also the restructuring of the economic-political system caught in the clutches of brokers, middlemen and interest groups, and a clear roadmap for the progressive political journey should be prepared.

The priority of the interim government

The main mandate of the interim government is to give compensation to the families of those who were killed during the brutal suppression by the state during the protests on 23 and 24 August, to investigate the incident fairly and take action against the culprits, and to treat the injured should be the first priority.

Likewise, individuals or groups involved in the destruction of public and private property during the movement should be identified and action taken. Not only this, arresting fugitive prisoners involved in various crimes should also be a government priority.

An important demand of the Gen-G rebellion is that corruption should be investigated and the guilty should be prosecuted. A powerful citizen's commission should be formed to investigate corruption, which should investigate corruption in the political leadership, personnel administration, police, judiciary and public sector and recommend action.

The government's next mandate is to hold the House of Representatives elections on February 21. Since the political party is an important part of the election, the election environment should be decided on the basis of consultation and dialogue with the political party. The government needs to give priority to consultation with old or new political parties considering the situation that the election may be affected if the government bypasses the political parties.
