The Ministry of Home Affairs has recalled the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Sunsari, Basudev Ghimire, along with the heads of security agencies there, in connection with last night's incident in Sunsari. Ghimire has been recalled to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ishwori Prasad Aryal, the CDO of Sankhuwasabha, has been assigned to his position.
Similarly, the head of the Koshi Province Police Office, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Binod Ghimire, has been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Kathmandu, while DIG Shekhar Khanal, who was working at Police Headquarters, has been assigned to the Koshi Province Police Office.
Keshav Thebe, Superintendent of Police (SP) and head of the Sunsari District Police Office, has been assigned to Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa. SP Pushparaj Mall, who was working at the airport, has been assigned to Thebe's position.
Likewise, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nandkishor Mahato of the Armed Police Force Nepal, who was stationed at Captainjanj, has also been recalled. DSP Madan Nath, who was working at the Armed Police Force Nepal Headquarters in Kathmandu, has been assigned to his position.
One person was killed in a clash between two groups on Sunday night in Captainjanj, Dewanganj Rural Municipality-3, Sunsari. In the incident, 24 people were injured, including 9 civilians, 10 Nepal Police personnel, and 5 Armed Police Force personnel.
A five-member committee has already been formed under the coordination of Joint Secretary Bhupendra Thapa of the Ministry of Home Affairs to investigate the incident. The committee will submit its report within a week.
To prevent further problems after the incident, the Sunsari District Administration Office has imposed an indefinite curfew in some areas of Dewanganj and Harinagar rural municipalities from 7 a.m. today.
